Zakat becomes compulsory when your accumulated wealth crosses a specific threshold, known as the **Nisab**.

Note: Scholars generally recommend using the **Silver Nisab** threshold for cash and liquid savings. This lowers the entry barrier, allowing more people to qualify to pay and ultimately benefits more people in need. If your net wealth exceeds the active threshold value, paying Zakat (2.5%) is obligatory.
